وينتمي هذا الكتاب الي الكتب التحفيزية والتنمية الذاتية . ويعتبر احمد الشقيري من الأشخاص المؤثرين في الوطن العربي حيث اشتهر بسلسلة خواطر وعمل ١١ نسخة من هذا البرنامج ونجح نجاحا كبيرا وكان يعرض البرنامج على قناة mbc في شهر رمضان المبارك .
وبعد انتهاء البرنامج بنسخه ١١ اعتزل في جزيرة لمدة أربعين يوما وأثناء خلوته كتب هذا الكتاب وسمي الكتاب بأربعون .
