هذا الإقبال على الله هو روح العبادة، فالدعاء سر العلاقة بين العبد وربه، إنه يُعبر عن الافتقار للمولى جل وعلا، فأنت تطلب، وتمد يديك، وتُلح، وتسأل، هذا الدعاء الذي هو العبادة، وصف الله به أنبياءه، فقال: إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا، أي: في خوفهم، وفي رجائهم،وَكَانُوا لَنَا خَاشِعِينَسورة الأنبياء:90.
وكذلك فإن الله أمرنا، فقال:وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي، ووعد، فقال:أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ، وهدد، فقال: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي، أي: عن دعائي،سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَسورة غافر:60، فأطلب، ادعوا ربكم تضرعاً وخفية، إنه قريب، جاءت آية الدعاء وتخللت آيات الصيام، في سورة البقرة:وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِسورة البقرة:186، ولابد أن يجيب، وهذه الاستجابة قد تكون خيراً آخر غير الذي سألته؛ لأنه أكثر فائدة لك، أو شراً دفعه عنك، أو يُعجل لك ما سألت، أو يؤجله لتزداد دعاء وإلحاحاً، ثم يعطيك فتكون قد ازدت خيراً، وأجراً.
