" ...كُنْتُ جَمَعْتُ فِي عُنْفُوَانِ شَبَابِي مُخْتَصَرًا فِي الْفِقْهِ لِبَعْضِ الْمُبْتَدِئِينَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي. وَسَمَّيْتُهُ بِـ " الْمُخْتَارِ لِلْفَتْوَى " اخْتَرْتُ فِيهِ قَوْلَ الْإِمَامِ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ -، إِذْ كَانَ هُوَ الْأَوَّلَ وَالْأَوْلَى، فَلَمَّا تَدَاوَلَتْهُ أَيْدِي الْعُلَمَاءِ، وَاشْتَغَلَ بِهِ بَعْضُ الْفُقَهَاءِ طَلَبُوا مِنِّي أَنْ أَشْرَحَهُ شَرْحًا أُشِيرُ فِيهِ إِلَى عِلَلِ مَسَائِلِهِ وَمَعَانِيهَا، وَأُبَيِّنُ صُوَرَهَا وَأُنَبِّهُ عَلَى مَبَانِيهَا، وَأَذْكُرُ فُرُوعًا يُحْتَاجُ إِلَيْهَا وَيُعْتَمَدُ فِي النَّقْلِ عَلَيْهَا، وَأَنْقُلُ فِيهِ مَا بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِنَا مِنَ الْخِلَافِ، وَأُعَلِّلُهُ مُتَوَخِّيًا مُوجِزًا فِيهِ الْإِنْصَافَ، فَاسْتَخَرْتُ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى، وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْهِ، وَشَرَعْتُ فِيهِ، مُسْتَعِينًا بِهِ وَمُتَوَكِّلًا عَلَيْهِ، وَسَمَّيْتُهُ:
