المذاهب الأربعة، فليس له نظير، وأما معرفتُه بالملل والنِّحَل، والأصول والكلام، فلا أعلم له فيه مثيلاً، ويدري جملةً صالحة من اللغة، وعربيَّتُه قوية جدًّا، وأما معرفته بالتاريخ والسير فعجبٌ عجيب"
