B.A.Pとは "Best（最高の） Absolute（絶対的な） Perfect（完璧な）価値を蠽求する"という意味。
2014年に名前の由来が「実はご飯だった」と発表。
KBS『ユ・ヒヨルのスケッチブック』の番組収録に参加し、グループ名についてのエピソードを公開した。
この日の収録でB.A.Pは、「B.A.Pというグループ名が『Best Absolute Perfect』の略ではなく、『ご飯（パプ）』を英語で発音したものを書いた」と明かし、「デビュー前にメンバーたちの運勢を見てもらい、メンバー皆の四柱に水がないということを知り、水と共にすることができる言葉は何かと考え『ご飯』を思いついた」と説明した。
2012年1月にシングル『Warrior』でデビュー。
