主人公・焔魔堂ろくろは、かつて抱いていた陰陽師の夢を捨て、日々を過ごしていた。
そんな中、ろくろは京都の名門・化野家の次期統主・紅緒と共に、『双星の陰陽師』の称号を与えられる。
『双星』の役割とは、長きに渡るケガレとの戦いに終焉をもたらす『神子』を生むべく、夫婦として生活することだった。
当然受け入れられず反発しあう二人だが、力を合わせてケガレとの戦いに挑んでいく。
