Sholat adalah salah satu kewajiban bagi kaum muslim yang sudah mukallaf dan harus dikerjakan baik bagi mukimin maupun dalam perjalanan.
Shalat merupakan rukun Islam kedua setelah syahadad. Islam didirikan atas lima sendi (tiang) salah satunya adalah shalat, sehingga barang siapa mendirikan sholat ,maka ia mendirikan agama semdiri yaitu agama Islam, dan barang siapa yang meninggalkan shalat, maka ia meruntuhkan agama Islam.
Sholat wajib harus didirikan dalam satu hari satu malam sebanyak lima kali, dan jumlahnya adalah 17 rakaat. Sholat merupakan kewajiban yang harus dilaksanakan tanpa kecuali bagi muslim mukallaf baik yang sedang sehat maupun yang sedang sakit. Selain sholat wajib ada juga shalat-shalat sunah.
