Aplikasi ini dibuat untuk melestarikan salah satu bahasa yang digunakan oleh masyarakat Malang Raya. Wilayah Malang Raya berada di Provinsi Jawa Timur yang kini menjadi pusat tujuan wisata bagi para pecinta travelling seluruh Indonesia.
Untuk mendukung pusat tujuan wisata, maka segala potensi yang ada di Malang Raya harus dilestarikan untuk dijadikan identitas, daya tarik wisata termasuk Boso Walikan(Bahasa Balikan) atau masyarakat Malang Raya dengan sebutan Osob Kiwalan dari kata Boso Walikan yang dibalik pembacaannya.
Berdasarkan pernyataan Kepala Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud), Dadang Sunendar pada tahun 2016 yang mengumumkan hasil penelitian, yang menyatakan bahwa 139 bahasa daerah di Indonesia mengalami terancam punah. Hasil penelitian tersebut kemudian semakin menambah semangat kami untuk melaksanakan pembuatan aplikasi Boso Walikan ini.
