ÇANDAĞI’NIN BULUNDUĞU BÖLGENİN GENEL TARİHÇESİ
Çandağı köyü ,nün tek başına tarihini incelemek mümkün değildir. Genel olarak bölgenin tarihini ele alarakÇandağı köyü,nün de içinde bulunduğu bölgenin tarihçesini ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Zaten özel olarak Çandağı köyü,nün çok eski tarihini incelemek bizim açımızdan mümkün değildir.
Bölgenin tarihi çok eskilere dayanmaktadır. Bu bölgeye M.Ö 1200-1546 yılları arasında Paflagonyalılar hâkim olmuştur. Paflagonyalılar bölgenin ilk yerleşenleri ve kurucuları sayılmaktadır. İskender, M.Ö 336-323 yıllarında kısa bir süre bölgeye egemen olmuş, Sinop ve çevresini istila etmiştir. M.Ö I. Yüzyıldan itibaren bölge, Roma imparatorluğunun hâkimiyeti altına girmiştir. 395 yılında Roma imparatorluğunun ikiye bölünmesiyle bölge Doğu Roma (Bizans) hâkimiyetinde kalmıştır. 1105 yılında bölgenin bir bölümüne Danişmentliler hükmetmişlerdir
Sinop ve çevresi 1214 yılında Trabzon Rum imparatorluğuna bağlanmıştır. 1277 yılında Selçuklu komutanlarından Pervane M. Süleyman bu bölgeyi Trabzon Rum imparatorluğundan alarak Selçuklu Devletine bağlamıştır. 1322 yılına kadar Pervaneoğulları bu bölgede bağımsız olarak hareket etmişlerdir. 1322’de bölge, yine bir Türk beyliği olan Candaroğulları’nın eline geçmiştir. Ancak Osmanlı padişahlarından II. Murat Candaroğullarından Sinop hariç bölgenin bütün topraklarını Osmanlıya katmıştır. 1461 yılında Fatih Sultan Mehmet Sinop’u da almış ve bölge tamamen Osmanlı topraklarına katılmıştır. Kastamonu’nun Osmanlı ülkesine katılmasıyla Sinop ili toprakları içinde buluna Durağan, Boyabat ve Gerze Kastamonu sancağına bağlanmıştır.
