Người chơi sẽ tung xúc sắc để di chuyển vòng quanh bàn cờ. Có nhiều loại ô khác nhau trên bàn cờ như ô nhà đất, xuất phát, khí vận, cơ hội, vào tù, sân bay,... Người chơi sẽ mua nhà đất và xây nhà trên những ô mà mình sở hữu. Trên đường đi người chơi có thể bị mất tiền cho người chơi khác khi đi vào ô của đối thủ, hoặc gặp phải rủi ro như vào ô khí vận. Người chơi thắng cuộc khi các đối thủ đã bị phá sản và trở thành tỷ phú.
