Sheeran was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, from Irish parents, before moving to Framlingham, Suffolk. He learned to play the guitar very early, and started writing songs during high school at Mills Thomas in Framlingham. His childhood memories, as expressed in an interview with Zane Lowe, show that he likes listening to Van Morrison on a trip to London with his parents and a gig with Damien Rice in Ireland when he is 11 years old.
Sheeran broke into the music market in June 2011, when the debut single "The A Team" was ranked number 3 on the UK charts.
