El sí de las niñas es una comedia que trata sobre Doña Paquita, una joven de 16 años obligada por su madre doña Irene a casarse con Don Diego, un sensible y rico caballero de 59 años. Sin embargo este ignora que Doña Paquita está enamorada de un tal 'Don Félix', quien en realidad se llama Don Carlos, y es sobrino de Don Diego. Con este triángulo amoroso como argumento se desarrolla la obra, cuyo tema principal es la opresión de las muchachas forzadas a obedecer a su madre y entrar en un matrimonio desigual y en este caso con una gran diferencia de edad entre los contrayentes. However, this ignores the fact that Doña Paquita is in love with a certain 'Don Felix', who actually called Don Carlos, and is the nephew of Don Diego.
