Ungkapan Ibn Arabi di atas memberikan pemahaman bahwa kitab al-Futuhat al-Makiyyah memiliki kedudukan yang signifikan. Oleh Ibnu Arabi sendiri, kitab ini dijadikan sebagai kitab yang dianggap dapat menjelaskan (mubayyin) dan mengklarifikasi pemahaman para pembaca atas kitab-kitab Ibnu Arabi lainnya. Meski demikian, dari sekian banyak karyanya, menurut penulis hanya ada dua kitab karya Ibnu Arabi yang paling penting dan yang mewakili gagasan besarnya, yaitu kitab al-Futuhat al-Makkiyyah dan Fushush al-Hikam.
Tulisan ini bermaksud mengkaji salah satu dari keduanya, yaitu kitab al-Futuhat al-Makkiyyah, sebuah kitab yang seringkali dikenal sebagai ensiklopedi tasawuf terbesar hingga hari ini. Kitab ini memuat berbagai pandangan filosuf sufistik dan dipandang otoritatif dalam menjelaskan berbagai karya Ibn Arabi lainnya.

Ibn Arabi above expression gives the understanding that the book of al-Futuhat al-Makiyyah have a significant position. By Ibnu Arabi himself, the book is used as a book that is considered to explain (mubayyin) and clarify the understanding of the readers of the books of Ibnu Arabi other. However, of all his work, according to the authors there are only two books of Ibnu Arabi's most important and that represents a big idea, which is the book of al-Futuhat al-Makkiyyah and Fushush al-Hikam.
This paper intends to study one of the two, which is the book of al-Futuhat al-Makkiyyah, a book which is often known as the largest encyclopaedia of Sufism today. It contains a variety of views and deemed authoritative Sufi philosophers in explaining various other works of Ibn Arabi.
