Gangsters are the subject of many films, especially from the period between 1930 and 1960. The term "Gangsta" is now used for street gang members.
Famous Gangsters:
1. Al Capone is one of the most influential gangsters during the ban period. Born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1899 from immigrant parents, Capone was recruited by Five Gang Points in the early 1920s. Capone's friend, Lucky Luciano, was a useful member of Points Five Gang initially. Capone will rise to control most of the illicit activities of gambling, prostitution, and bootlegging zoals in Chicago, Illinois in the early twentieth century.
2. Frank Costello is another influential gangster. He was born in Italy but moved to America when he was four years old. He later changed his name from Francesco Castiglia to Frank Costello when he joined a gang at the age of 13. His name changes led some to mistakenly believe that he was an Irishman. He works with Charlie Luciano on bootlegging and gambling. He has many useful political powers that enable him to sustain his business. He takes over when Luciano is captured and extends gang operations. He decided to get away from gangster life and died calmly in 1973.
3. Carlo Gambino is an influential gangster in America. From 1961 until he died in 1976, he was the head of the American mafia. Gambino was born in Palermo, Sicily, but moved to the United States at the age of 21. Through the relatives of Castellano, he joined the family Masseria. While Lucky Luciano is an underboss in the Family Masseria, Gambino works for him. After Luciano has Masseria dead, Luciano becomes boss, and Gambino is sent to Scalise family.
