Latest update [menu]
Version 2.7 (1/18/17)
- The major security bug where the app opened directly without creating a backup is now completely fixed.
- Fixed bug where the what's new dialog didn't appear after updating. Just press the 'don't show again' button to hide it for that version. Unfortunately that's the only way to make sure the user reads it.
Version 2.6 (1/16/17)
- You can now choose between the new, model-less, method, or the old legacy method!
- Cool what's new dialogs.
Description [menu]
Root access required, as always with this kind of stuff.
Want Google's new assistant app but don't want to dabble in the art of build.propness and possibly compromise your device's safety?
Well you're in the right place! Simply initiate the download, wait, install, open, allow permissions, tap the Get Assistant button, wait, PROFIT!
Okay, that's not too simple...how about this: Download, tap the button, get Google's new assistant!
We also save a backup of your model name on first startup so we can always revert back to normal Google Now on Tap, or Google Screen Search. In addition to that, it makes backup of build.prop in '/system/first-time-open-backup-build.prop.bac' in case of emergency restore.
Significant safety checks are now included in the app to alert you ahead of time if the app possibly doesn't support your device to avoid bootloops. Also includes emergency restore option in case you disregard safety check or any other issues.
Waning: Nexus devices running Nougat only. By downloading, you assume responsibility for all damages that may be caused by the use of this app. Root access required.
Permission breakdown:
Network access: This is needed for Firebase statistics and analytics. Simply reports how many users click certain buttons.
Storage: This is needed to copy the build.prop to the user's internal memory to perform modifications, which then gets sent back to the system partition.
Billing: I have a small donate button in the app overflow menu for those who want to support me.
