How does Henna Work?

This layer of skin is thick on certain body parts such as the palms of the hands and soles of the feet (especially the heels) and may be thinner in other parts such as the skin of the ear. Stratum corneum consists of keratin which also makes the nails and hair. When henna is applied to your skin or hair, the legalone molecule is small enough to penetrate the skin cells. It enters the skin cell column and does not swell or spread like a drop of ink onto a tissue paper. Thus, the stain remains sharp and clear, until a complete upper layer skin exfoliation. The darkest dye of Henna on cells that are in close contact with the dye and the skin cells furthest from the dye has a lighter color.
