Pinus er et digitalt hjelpemiddel til besøkene på arboretet, hvor man skal kunne finne informasjon og turvalg for arboretet. I tillegg til dette har man i appen mulighet til å bruke en identifikasjonsnøkkel for å finne ut hvilket tre man har funnet ute i naturen, både på arboretet og i norsk natur.
Appen inneholder en identifikasjonsnøkkel. Med identifikasjonesnøkkelen i appen kan du finne fram til trær som naturlig hører hjemme i Norge pluss noen av de vanligste innførte artene. Denne nøkkelen er hovedsakelig beregnet for bruk i vekstsesongen, hvor man har tilgang til blader, blomster og frukt. Identifikasjonsnøkkelen mangler fortsatt litt bilder, men dette vil kommer når bladene har sprunge ut.
