Not only a simple dictaphone (record and play-back your recording), but a kids friendly dictaphone with 7 separate channels you can play back simultaneously - and they can be looped to make recording a "rhythm section" a simple task.
Great free toy for creative kids and creative parents! It will be great fun for your kid to record his/her singing, drumming on a pot, telling funny stories or just making strange noises and then playing it back. Be prepared for a little more noise around you.

This is an ad supported app - there is also an ads free version which I strongly recommend if you find Kids Recorder fun.
PS. Time it takes from pressing the record switch till the recording starts depends from the device being used. While the most recent devices like Nexus 4 operate momentarily, you may need to practice a while to get the recording just-in-time.
