Radio79 was launched in 2009-starting with three streams and only electronic music. It is India's first alternative music channel. Broadcasting to 112 countries on a daily basis.
The Indian indie alternative scene has grown exponentially since back then, and we wanted to showcase the sound emerging from the country, hence, in Dec 2012, we launched our newest stream, Radio 79 Delhi.
The Voice of Alternative India, Radio 79 Delhi has round-the-clock programming which includes shows,RJs, interviews and whole lot of other really cool segments.
Our studio is the hub of alternative musicians-on any given day you can come hang out at our building and are most likely to bump into a few artists, bands or DJs.
Every Wed we have a show Special Agents, where we feature a band for 2 hours and put em on the spot with RJ Jas. some of the bands wo have checked in are parikrama,reggae rajahs, Indian Ocean,pagal Haina,indigo children, syncopation,gods robots,this list could go on, the shows been on for a while.sorry to anyone we missed, we love you guys )
Every Tuesday, the rajahs host the reggae show.
Today, we hit 112 countries and have highlighted some of the freshest and most original alternative music coming out of India. Our main aim is to push the indian indie alternative musician.
