(१५ जुन, २००५ रोजी तयार झाल्यापासून १२० व्या दठवशी). हा कायदा सर्वप्रथम स्वीडन मधे 1766 ला लागु झाला त्यानंतर भारत हा 12 ऑक्टोबर 2005 ला आशा प्रकारचा कायदा करणारा 54 वा देश ठरला. सामान्य नागरठकांपर्यंत सर्व सरकारी माहठती सुलभपणे पोचवणे हे ह्या कायद्या अंतर्गत माहठती आयोगाचे कर्तव्य आहे.
