Iman menurut bahasa artinya kepercayaan, sedangkan menurut istilah syara’ iman adalah mempercayai atau meyakini dengan hati, mengucap dengan lidah dan mengamalkannya dengan perbuatan. rukun artinya landasan atau dasar. Berarti ada 6 landasan atau dasar dalam islam, yaitu disebut dengan rukun iman. Tanpa adanya keenam hal tersebut maka kita tidak dikatakan sebagai orang islam. Karena semua rukun islam ini saling berhubungan dengan rukun iman, baru dikatakan islam apabila kita mempercayai rukun iman yaitu mempercayai Allah, mempercayai rasul, malaikat, kitab, hari kiamat dan takdir. Seperti yang telah disebutkan dalam Al-qur’an surat Annisa ayat 59 :
Yang Artinya: “Hai orang-orang yang beriman taatilah Allah dan taatilah rasul Nya, dan ulil amri diantara kamu. kemudian jika kamu berlainan pendapat tentang sesuatu, maka kembalilkanlah ia kepada Allah (Al-Qur'an) dan Rasul (Sunnahnya) jika kamu benar-benar beriman kepada Allah dan hari kemudian. yang demikian itu lebih baik bagimu dan lebih baik akibatnya." (QS. An-Nisa' :59).
Dari ayat tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kita tidak dapat memeprcayai salah satunya saja. Kalau kita mengaku beriman kepada Allah maka percaya juga kepada rasul, malaikat, kitab Allah, hari kiamat, dan takdir. Sehingga dengan keimanan kita tersebut kita dapat menjalankan perintah Allah dan menjauhi segala larangannya. Faith means trust by language, while according to the terms of Personality 'faith is trusting or believing with the heart, to give to the tongue and practice it with deeds. pillar means foundation or basis. Means there are six foundation or basis in Islam, namely the so-called pillars of faith. Without the six that we are not said to be Islam. Because all of the pillars of Islam is interconnected with the pillars of faith, has said Islam if we are to believe the pillars of faith is trusting God, trusting messengers, the angels, the books, the Day of Judgment and destiny. As has been mentioned in the Qur'an letter Annisa ayat 59:
Which means: "O ye who believe! Obey Allah and obey His apostles, and ulil with authority among you. then if you differ on anything, then kembalilkanlah it to Allah (the Qur'an) and Prophet (sunnah) if you truly believe in Allah and the Last Day. which is better for you and better for it. "(Qur'an, An-Nisa ': 59).
From this verse we can conclude that we can not memeprcayai one of them. If we claim to believe in God, believe also to the apostles, angels, the Book of Allah, the Day of Judgment, and fate. So with our belief that we can run the commands of Allah and stay away from all prohibitions.
