Sometimes, the simplest solutions are the best. Introducing Screen Time Tank: the app that puts the power back into the hands of parents. Go from being the "bad guy" who makes them turn the TV off, to the "good guy" who's always rewarding them! Manage screen time for as-many-as 4 children... because if you have more than that - then let's face it - there's no help for you. ;-)
As a reward -
Add time to the tank loudly and often. Make it a big deal. "This is for calming down so quickly! here's 10 more minutes!" or "Nice job putting on your shoes! plus 5 for you!" It makes the little ones feel like winners, and it gives parents another reason to praise positive behavior.
As a punishment -
Taking time from the tank is a threat that you can follow through with - and that they care about. Good alternative to a tazer.
As an incentive -
If your child wants to watch a TV show or play a video game, make a point of checking to see if they have enough time in the tank. Perhaps they can find something to do to earn more?...
As a screen time manager -
Experts recommend a maximum of 2 hours in front of a screen per day... but once they get sucked in, they never want to come out again. With a maximum allowance of 90 minutes, this visual timer gives them a realistic expectation of how long you're going to let them be plugged in. When the time is up - it's up. It's not you telling them they're done - it's the app!
