xbeam.me lets you send and receive files between two devices (via app or web browser). The cool thing about it: The connection is peer-to-peer, no server is involved in transmitting your files. If both devices are on the same network (e.g. your home wifi), you can utilize its full bandwidth (superfast)! In some cases where a direct connection is blocked by your network/firewall/NAT, the transmission is relayed (not as fast, but still good)
***How to use it***
- On the second device visit the web site xbeam.me
- Both devices now have an unique ID (the six digit code on top)
- Type the partners ID on one of the devices
- Both devices will now start to establish a connection (may take 10 - 30 seconds)
- When the connection is up, you can begin to exchange files
***Features***
- compatibility: You do not need to have a certain application installed on your computer/smartphone. A modern browser (i.e. Firefox, IE Edge, the preinstalled browser app) is all you need.
- super easy: just type the ID (six digit code) in one of the devices, and the devices will establish a connection.
- very fast: if both devices are on the same network (e.g. your home wifi), then the files will not leave this network and transmission is very fast. In some cases, when your network, firewall, etc. blocks direct connections, the transmission will by relayed by a server (transmission is encrypted, the server cannot read your files)
