Improve Your Vocabulary
You can improve your Japanese vocabulary through a word chain game called "SHIRITORI". This game is very simple but popular among Japanese people. There are only two simple rules:
1. You have to choose a new word so that the last character of a previous word becomes the head of the new word, for example: しりとり→りゆう. As you can see, the previous word, "しりとり", ends with the character, "り", and the new word, "りゆう", begins with it. These two words are "chained" by "り". Please try to "chain" words up to 25.
2. If you choose a word ending with the character "ん", you will lose the game because Japanese doesn't have any words starting with it. This means you cannot chain words any more.
Choose Difficulty
There three different difficulties on the app.
1. Apprentice
If you are not familiar even with Japanese Hiragana characters, this level could be good for you. All SHIRITORI choices are guided with both alphabets and Hiragana characters.
2. Master
If you are a master of Hiragana characters and learning Kanji a bit, this level is recommended. Every SHIRITORI choice is guided with both Hiragana and Kanji, but its head is not shown.
3. Hermit
If you are a hermit, you will use only Kanji characters. This level could be very difficult for Japanese leaners. To be honest, this could be difficult even for well educated Japanese people.
Vocabulary List
You can improve your vocabulary with the list even if you don't play the word chain game. 265 words are contained with explanations.
Favorite Vocabulary
You can use the "fav" button to add words to your favorite list up to 25. If the number of your favorite words exceeds 25, the newest 25 word will remain. If you want to remove a word from the list, please use the "del" button on a word explanation screen.
