The application works by tinting the screen of your device with a pleasant reddish hue which is easier on your eyes and will help you sleep even if you are viewing your device in a dark room. SoftGlow is highly configurable; you are able to set how intense or dimly your screen will glow, and even the tint of the hue. SoftGlow runs on an automatic timer to slowly and gently adjust the brightness and tint of your screen throughout the day so that you can have normal operation during the day time, and tinted operation during the night. You can override this behavior using a manual switch included in the application.
