1963年、SPIの前身となるリクルートテストが開発される。
1973年、SPIが開発される。
2002年、SPI2が開発される。

2012年、SPI3が開発される。
SPIは、言語（国語に相当）、非言語（数学に相当）の基礎能力検査と性格検査で構成されます。
