Al-Quran adalah kalam Allah yang merupakan sebuah Mu’jizat yang diturunkan kepada Nabi akhir jaman, Muhammad . 1. Perihal Ayat Al-Qur'an
Ayat ialah kalimat dalam al-Qur'an, ia diketahui secara tauqifi (dengan nash dari Rasulullah saw.), bukan secara qiasi (analogi). Karena itu mereka menghitung (الٓمٓ) dan (الٓمٓصٓ) masing-masing sebagai satu ayat, tetapi tidak menghitung (الٓمٓ) dan (ألر), (حم) dan (يسٓ) masing-masing dihitung sebagai satu ayat, tetapi tidak demikian dengan (طسم), ayat hutang di surat al-Baqarah 282 panjangnya satu halaman penuh. Ayat (مدهامتان) adalah satu kata. menurut kesepakatan, tidak sah shalat dengan membaca hanya separuh ayat.
2. Surat-Surat Al-Qur'an

Ini menunjukkan kemuliaan surat al-Fatihan tersebut, sebab banyaknya nama itu menunjukkan kemuliaan yang dinamai. Bara'ah dinamakan juga at-Taubah, Al-Isra' juga dinamakan Banu Isra'il.
Masing-masing surat dinamakan sesuai dengan spesifik yang terkandung di dalamnya, seperti penamaan surat al-Baqarah (Sapi beetina) karena kisah sapi yang disebutkan di dalamnya dan hikmah yang terkandung di dalam kisah ini. Dinamakan surat an-Nisa' (perempuan) karena surat ini banyak menyebutkan hukum-hukum yang berkaitan dengan wanita.
