Change isn’t easy even under the most understanding circumstances, especially when you’re already doing what you love - doing Tejano! But when something tugs at your heart heavily, you have to take that leap of faith and jump right into that beautiful ocean! And sometimes events happen so fast that you wake up one morning and wonder, Did that just happen??? We feel like Loretta Lynn. One day she was a little girl and the next day she was married and having babies. One day we were just silly Almaguer primas loving Tejano together, and the next day we were the A-Team, and then unexpectedly came the birth to Tejano Lippz through our non-profit A-Team sponsorship with the collaboration of prima Sidalia Almaguer Mendoza and Gabriel Rios. Wait, did that just happen!!!!???
As Almaguer women and founders of the A-Team, music, specifically accordionist have been a huge part of our lives. Without us even knowing one another until most recently, Arnie Amaguer, was very instrumental in bringing Tejano to Northern Cali and was an amazing accordionist who lost his life before any of the A-Team could meet him with the exception of his sister Sylvia Almaguer Harrelson. And so it is with deep love and admiration that Tejano Lippz is in memory of Arnie Almaguer. May Arnie live in our hearts forever.
The desire of every one directly connected to both A-Team and Tejano Lippz is to support and promote Tejano artists, while spreading unity among la gente. Along the way we do our part to ensure that our culture is alive and kicking so that our younger generations do not lose touch with the beauty of our music and our culture. The support that has been felt within the Tejano community, our friends, and family in this endeavor is truly humbling and we are blessed to be in the middle of this circle that is much bigger than us because it’s not about us.
This is not a journey, it is an adventure that has brought us the companionship of so many beautiful individuals. Included in that group of individuals are some amazing DJ talents who really know their stuff. They take you back to Grampa’s days when things were simple and listening to Tejano was a way of life. The DJs get down and dirty with Conjunto, Tejano, Chicano Orchestra and Old School Oldies.
