It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln announced that a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

Today, nearly 90 percent of the American household have Turkey on the table during Thanksgiving, regardless if it is roasted, baked or deep fried.
