வகடகவ என்று போற்றப்பட்ட தெனால ராமனன் சுவை மகுந்த கதைகளை தொகுத்து வழங்குவதல் பெருமை கொள்கறோம். தெனாலராமன் (க.ப.1509 - க.ப.1529 ) என்பவர் வஜயநகரத்தை ஆண்ட கருஷ்ணதேவராயரன் அவையை அலங்கரத்த எட்டு அரசவைப்புலவர்களுள் (அஷ்டதக் கஜங்கள்) ஒருவர். அகடவகட கோமாளத் தனங்களல் தான் அவருடைய அறவும் ஆற்றலும் ஜொலத்தன.
இவருடைய ஊருக்கு வந்த துறவ ஒருவர் இவருடைய தைரயம் மற்றும் நகைச்சுவை உணர்வல் கவரப்பட்டு காளதேவயடம் வரம் பெறத்தக்க மந்தரம் ஒன்றை சொல்லத் தந்ததாகவும் அதன் அருளால் காள தேவயன் தரசனம் பெற்ற தெனாலராமன் அவளையும் தன் நகைச்சுவை அறவால் சரக்க வைத்து அவளாலேயே வகடகவ என்று வாழ்த்தப்பட்டதாகவும் சொல்கறார்கள்.
பற்பாடு காளயன் அறவுரைப்பட வஜயநகரம் சென்று தன்னுடைய சாமர்த்தயத்தால் அரச தரசனம் பெற்று தன் அறவுக் கூர்மை மற்றும் நகைச்சுவையால் அரசரன் அன்புக்கும் நம்பக்கைக்கும் பாத்தரமாக அரசவையல் முக்கய இடம் பெற்று நல்வாழ்வு வாழ்ந்தார்.
