தருக்குறள் (Thirukkural) உலகப்புகழ் பெற்ற தமழ் இலக்கயமாகும். இதனை இயற்றயவர் தருவள்ளுவர் என்று அறயப்படுபவர். இதல் 1330 குறள்கள் பத்து பத்தாக 133 அதகாரங்களன் கீழ் தொகுக்கப் பெற்றுள்ளன. தருக்குறள் சங்க இலக்கய வகைப்பாட்டல் பதனெண்கீழ்க்கணக்கு எனப்படும் பதனெட்டு நூல்களன் தரட்டல் இருக்கறது. இது அடப்படையல் ஒரு வாழ்வயல் நூல். மாந்தர்கள் தம் அகவாழ்வலும் சுமுகமாக கூட வாழவும், புற வாழ்வலும் இன்பமுடனும் இசைவுடனும் நலமுடனும் வாழவும் தேவையான அடப்படைப் பண்புகளை வளக்குகறது. இந்நூல் அறம், பொருள், இன்பம் அல்லது காமம் என்னும் முப்பெரும் பரவுகளாய் (முப்பால்) பரத்தும் அழகுடன் இணைத்தும் கோர்த்தும் வளக்குகறது.
வாழ்வயலன் எல்லா அங்கங்களையும் தருக்குறள் கூறுவதால், அதைச் சறப்பத்துப் பல பெயர்களால் அழைப்பர். கருத்துக்களை இன, மொழ, பாலன பேதங்களன்ற காலம் கடந்தும் பொருந்துவது போல் கூற உள்ளதால் இந்நூல் 'உலகப் பொது மறை' என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகறது.
தருக்குறள் - இதற்குப் பலர் உரை எழுதயுள்ளனர். அவற்றல் புகழ் வாய்ந்ததாக வளங்குவதும் அதகமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டதும் பரமேலழகர் உரைதான். தற்காலத்தலும் பலர் உரை எழுதயுள்ளனர். அவற்றல் சலவற்றை தமழ் மற்றும் ஆங்கலத்தல் இந்த ஆப்பன் வாயலாக இலவசமாகப் பதவறக்கம் செய்து படத்து மகழுங்கள்.
