Tinte bestond in 1989 vierhonderd jaar en dat was natuurlijk reden voor een feestje. Het plaatselijke Oranjecomité ging stevig aan de slag en het werd een daverend succes: een week lang feest en zelfs wat geld over! Het comité smeedde direct plannen om een vervolg te geven aan het festijn en ziedaar, het jaarlijks terugkerende Zomerfeest was geboren. De Stichting Tinte 400 werd opgericht om het feest elk jaar te organiseren en daarnaast het verenigingsleven in Tinte financieel te ondersteunen.
