UFO Robot Goldrake, è stata la prima serie mecha giapponese importata in Italia, dove venne originariamente trasmessa con il nome di Atlas UFO Robot nell'ambito del programma Buonasera con... sulla Rete 2, dal 1978 al 1980. Per dare un'idea del successo avuto all'epoca basti pensare che il 45 giri con le sigle della prima serie, Ufo Robot/Shooting star (firmate con lo pseudonimo Actarus), ottenne addirittura il disco d'oro, superando il milione di copie vendute.
