Vicente Fernández Gómez, (Huentitán el Alto, Guadalajara, Jalisco, 17 de febrero de 1940), también conocido como Chente, es un cantante de música ranchera, empresario, productor discográfico y actor mexicano, padre del también cantante mexicano Alejandro Fernández, es considerado un icono latino establecido; su trabajo le ha valido dos Premios Grammy, ocho Premios Grammy Latino, catorce Premios Lo Nuestro y una estrella en el Hollywood Walk of Fame. En abril de 2010, ha vendido 50 millones de álbumes en todo el mundo.
Biografía
Vicente Fernández nació el 17 de febrero de 1940 en el pueblo de Huentitán El Alto, Jalisco. Es hijo del ranchero Ramón Fernández y Paula Gómez Ponce de Fernández. En 1954, con 14 años, participó en un concurso amateur en Guadalajara, donde obtuvo el primer lugar y comenzó a cantar localmente en restaurantes, bodas, grupos familiares y de amigos, mientras alternaba vendiendo lechuguillas de tequila hechas en casa. En 1960 Fernández actuó con gran éxito en un programa de televisión llamado La Calandria Musical, transmitido en la ciudad de Guadalajara. Poco después llegó a la Ciudad de México donde se incorporó a la plantilla del restaurante El Amanecer Tapatío.
