Ziarah kubur adalah salah satu aktivitas yang banyak di lakukan oleh kebanyakan umat muslim terutama bagi warga Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) sebagai penganut paham Ahlussunnah wal jamaah (Aswaja).

Di antara hikmah yang bisa di ambil dari ziarah kubur ini yaitu mengingatkan umat manusia akan kehidupan akhirat, bahwasanya mereka yang masih hidup pun suatu saat akan seperti itu dan ini tidak bisa dipungkiri.
Selain itu juga bisa meningkatkan kezuhudan seseorang terhadap kehidupan duniawi, dalam arti dunia ini hanya sesaat yang mana pada akhirnya mereka akan di hadapkan dengan kehidupan yang abadi yaitu akhirat, yaitu sebuah kehidupan di mana manusia akan mempertanggung jawabkan semua amal perbuatannya selama di dunia.
Dan hal-hal ini bisa di temukan dalam berbagai kitab-kitab hadist.
Sedangkan mengenai hukum ziarah kubur ini boleh di lakukan bahkan Rosulpun pernah menjiarahi makam ibunya,
meski pada awalnya beliau pernah melarang aktivitas ini, hal itu di karenakan pada saat tersebut keimanan masyarakatnya masih dalam keadaan lemah serta kondisi mental masyarakat arab masa itu yang pola pikirnya masih didominasi dengan kemusyrikan dan kepercayaan kepada para dewa dan sesembahan serta yang lainnya sehingga beliau sangat menghawatirkan kesalah pahaman dalam tata cara dan berdoa ketika mengunjungi kubur atau makam.
